Reya Sunshine not only turns heads with her feature performances, she gets those fingers clacking, too.
Reya Sunshine is everywhere online. And she wants you to know it.
“A lot of people follow me on one channel and they don’t know that I’m pretty much everywhere,” says Reya. “My website is my home base where you’ll always know my official accounts.”
And while the ED Awards’ 2017 Newcomer Feature Entertainer of the Year has flocks of adoring fans—it’s not hard to see why—Reya concedes her flourishing social media presence is a labor of love, and economy.
“It’s a big task. It’s fun and it’s obviously great for business but it is a lot to keep up with,” says Reya, who clocks in with 2.6 million followers on Instagram alone. “It’s never enough time trying to keep up with all the different channels because each one you could really devote so much time to—between creating content for it, curating it, editing it, choosing what to post and how, and then posting it, and then responding back to people and engaging with people. You could do that all day on one platform, so I try to squeeze it in as much as possible.”
EXOTIC DANCER caught Reya with a few moments of downtime to ask the savvy social media user about her online habits, her on-stage accomplishments and what type of music gets her moving. ED: You won the EXPO’s first-ever Lingerie Contest this year! There were over 65 girls in the contest, so how gratifying was it to come out on top?
REYA: It was awesome, obviously I wasn’t expecting it. I feel like that’s the cliche, annoying response, but I really didn’t! I mean that as a compliment to everyone else, there were a lot of really hot girls. I was surprised. It was great. I’m flattered.
ED: You’ve been to several EXPOs at this point. What did you enjoy most about this year’s EXPO, and what do you look forward to each year?
REYA: I look forward to seeing everybody. It’s the perfect time to connect with everybody, clubs I’ve been to, other features, and also, I really like that the lingerie contest happened inside this year. It’s a really hot time to go to Vegas. (Ed note: At previous EXPOs, there has been a bikini bash hosted outside at the host venue.)
ED: You’re now working directly with Bob Chiappardi and StripJointsMusic.com on “Reya Sunshine’s Urban StripJoint of the Week” and “Rock StripJoint of the Week.” Can you tell us more about what you’re doing with Bob on these Spotify playlists? What should listeners expect from these two playlists?
REYA: I’m picking a new song every week, a new rock song and a new urban song and each will be on the playlist and there are other songs on the playlist of awesome music that will be good to dance to in the strip club. So it’s my favorite tunes to highlight for fans to go listen to and see—I get asked often what do you like to dance to? What’s good music to dance to? Now there’s a whole list and you get a new song every week and I’m doing a post with a dance and whatnot when I pick each song each week.
ED: What’s one thing you wish the audience knew about Reya Sunshine?
REYA: I guess I want them to know I’m everywhere on the internet. A lot of people follow me on one channel and they don’t know that I’m pretty much everywhere. My website (Reyasroom.com) is my home base where you’ll always know my official accounts. They’re all listed there.
ED: What advice do you have for entertainers (or even clubs, for that matter) who want to increase their social media following, especially in a time where Facebook and Instagram are ‘shadow banning’ so many adult entertainers?
REYA: I recommend it strongly, it is a lot of work. You have to have patience and be consistent. Post, try to follow the rules the best you can because it is a war zone out there right now for adult entertainers and the adult industry as a whole. You have to find creative ways to navigate the system.
ED: What’s one of the most memorable club bookings or events that you’ve ever had, and what made it so memorable?
REYA: It’s hard to pick just one. I had a really good time at Lace in Wayne New Jersey recently. I went on my birthday, it was a one-night show. It was my birthday so they came and showed a lot of love. It was really fun. They even brought out a cake at the end of one of my shows.
ED: What are your favorite types of music to dance to? Conversely, what music do you listen to when you aren’t working in a club?
REYA: My favorite kind of music to dance to is rock. I think it’s sexy, especially slow, sensual movements to rock. I like listening to rock music casually, but usually if I’m chilling around the house, I listen to ambient-type, chill music. A little bit of everything, I know it’s a cliche answer, but it’s true.

Favorite industry pro: I’m excited to feature at Tootsie’s with DJ Platypus. He did give me a Super Bowl booking so that’s pretty cool!
Favorite part of your job: I like that I get to do a lot of different things and be creative because I work online, I work in the clubs, I get to travel everywhere and being able to spice it up and have different things that I like to do keeps it fresh and exciting.
Pet (work-related) peeve: When you’re on the stage and the guy pulls out the dollar and he’s sitting there gripping that dollar for dear life holding it out like it means the world to you, waiting for you to come over. I don’t even go over!
