At a gentlemen’s club, sight is the most important of the five senses. As Kevin McCarthy of Holo-Walls explains, holographic and 3D experiences comprise the visual future of gentlemen’s club entertainment.

Before any atmosphere is set, before any bars or structures are situated, and before any entertainers are gyrating, a gentlemen’s club is four walls and a stage. So, then, why not spice up the bare bones of your club?

Holo-Walls is a company that addresses that very concern—how to take your walls and turn them into revenue generators. ED Magazine spoke with Kevin McCarthy of Holo-Walls to learn more about how his company is using new technology to convert four walls and a stage into an interactive—and lucrative—experience.

ED: For a club owner/operator who may not be familiar with your company and its products, how would you briefly summarize Holo-Walls?

MCCARTHY: Holo-Walls is a specialty supplier and manufacturer of holographic and 3D films which we can convert into durable, dynamic décor elements covering staging surfaces, floors, walls and ceilings.

ED: Between holographic, 3D, and specialty films and your liquid fusion floor, which would you say are most likely to be embraced by the majority of clubs as we head into the next 5 or 10 years?

MCCARTHY: Developing visually impactful products for clubs made us realize that interactive experiences can move us into other unique products. Holographic and 3D experiences will only grow and advance over time and become more popular with widespread applications in our daily lives. Putting these experiences into clubs for large-scale applications only makes them more accessible. Embracing technology is just part of a plan to make a club successful. These are entertainment-driven enterprises, so having the imagination and will to deliver that entertainment has to be front and center. Technology can help get a club where it needs to be to bring in the customer. This will include developments that expand our ability to touch, see and hear in ways never before thought possible.

ED: Where do you see wall/decor technology going in the coming years?

MCCARTHY: I think for clubs it will be the ability to put away our mobile devices and experience visual overload in every way possible with wall, ceiling and floor features being thinner, affordable and hyper-interactive. Experiences you can’t get at home.
Take the example of a technology that has been around for a little while but never really adopted in a gentlemen’s club: liquid crystal privacy glass. One second it’s a white opaque piece of glass, and with the flip of a switch or active-motion sensors, it becomes a clear window. You can have a VIP room for all to see and when desired, with the wave of a hand, it becomes a solid white piece of glass allowing for total privacy. You can use the same technology as a projection screen, creating video content that hints of what can be experienced behind that glass, possibilities that drive home a unique visual experience.

ED: How do Holo-Walls’ products help bring gentlemen’s club owners into the future of their club’s operations?

MCCARTHY: It’s all about delivering a unique experience. We strive to bring to club owners something that no else has seen. If you take any gentlemen’s club, the center of their universal success is the stage. Bring the stage to life and you will have delivered an experience to the customer that will retain loyalty and new customer acquisitions that drive up sales resulting in higher profits. Who doesn’t want that? But to do it takes a reasonable investment to realize any success. You can’t win if you don’t play.
