Overall Feature Entertainer of the Year Angela Sommers

20th Annual ED’s Adult Nightclub & Exotic Dancer Awards Show—the only national awards show for the multi-billion-dollar strip club industry—was held on August 29 during 25th Anniversary EXPO at the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas.   For 20 years, ED Publications has celebrated the best of the best in the multi-billion-dollar adult nightclub industry with its Annual Adult Nightclub & Exotic Dancer Awards Showthe ED’s Awards — during the industry’s annual, national gathering for the Gentlemen’s Club EXPO. In 2017, the occasion is particularly notable, as the Awards Show celebrated its 20th year while the EXPO honored its 25th Anniversary. The 2017 ED’s Awards Show was held at The Joint Theater inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Tuesday, August 29th, from 9-11 pm. The 2018 ED’s Awards Show will also be held at The Joint, this year on August 21.

Among the voting categories, the most prestigious category is the “Overall Gentlemen’s Club of the Year” Award. In 2017, 10 clubs across the U.S. counted themselves among the very best in the industry. They are (in alphabetical order): Delilah’s in Philadelphia; E11EVEN in Miami; Fantasy Castle in Long Beach; Gold Club in Charlotte, NC; Hustler Club in E St. Louis, IL; Penthouse Club in Baton Rouge, LA; Platinum 84 in Denver; Scarlett’s Cabaret in Hallandale (Miami); Scores in New York City; and Spearmint Rhino in Las Vegas. Ultimately, it was the Penthouse Club in Baton Rouge that emerged as the winner of this top national award. Another prestigious club award, “Club Chain of the Year” (clubs who own/operate multiple locations), was presented to Rick’s Cabaret.

Among the six feature entertainer award categories, the most prestigious is the Overall Entertainer of the Year Award, as each nominee performed live during the ED’s Awards Show at The Joint. Two Entertainer of the Year (EOY) nominees were decided by the EDI (Exotic Dancer Invitational) East & West 2017 Contests; Aria Moon won the Showgirl Division at the EDI East (Pony Club, Indianapolis), while Natasha Nova took home top Showgirl Division honors at the EDI West (Platinum 84, Denver). The third EOY nominee — Angela Sommers — was chosen based on results from the pre-nomination voting ballot. The 2016 Entertainer of the Year, Lacey Rain, was on hand to pass on the award to the incoming Entertainer of the Year.  And in 2017, that incoming Entertainer of the Year was top showgirl and adult film star Angela Sommers, who took home the feature entertainment industry’s most sought-after award. The other six entertainer award categories include Newcomer Entertainer of the Year, Adult Movie Entertainer of the Year, Club Favorite Entertainer of the Year, International Showgirl of the Year and Miss ExoticDancer.com. Please see the complete list of award winners below.

As has been the case for the past several years, the adult nightclubs, entertainers and club staff who appear on the Final ED’s Awards Ballot were determined in part by the “Pre-Nominations” Ballot, hosted on the ED Awards website.  There are eight “regional” club awards, presented in two categories: Club of the Year and “Small” Club of the Year (which notes clubs that are under 5,000 square feet or are located in smaller cities/markets). There are four regions: East, South, Central and West. Other club award categories include “Feature” Club of the Year (for clubs that book feature entertainers regularly); “International” Club of the Year (for clubs outside of the U.S.); and “Urban” Club of the Year for the nation’s top urban club. There are also three ED’s Awards dedicated to club staff: General Manager of the Year, DJ of the Year and Club Employee of the Year (which includes security staff, waitresses, bartenders, VIP hosts, house moms and floor managers).

Note: As has been the case for the past few years, several of the ED Awards are presented at the EXPO’s Opening Night Party, which is held one evening prior to the main ED’s Awards Show.
