Patricia Burnside, a well-known and respected industry real estate broker, has passed away. She was 72.

Burnside, based in South Florida, specialized in marketing properties with hard-to-obtain licenses, including adult nightclubs, nightclubs, sports bars, restaurants and liquor stores. She was a frequent EXPO attendee, and previously contributed her time and expertise to EXPO seminars and to real-estate-related articles in ED Magazine.

“I really thought the world of Pat,” said Winston Hines, Business Broker and owner of HWH Properties. “She and I continually chatted back and forth for years about the state of the industry, the players, the owners, the buyers and sellers. But more so, Pat was absolutely a genuine lady, an ‘old school businesswoman who tackled and ran herd on a lot of testosterone-charged deals. She was always gracious, always friendly, always so approachable. We often discussed our collaborations and I really appreciated her perspectives on not just our work,  but also our lives. She was a stalwart contributor and attendee at the EXPOs, as well as a significant online presence. I will very much miss Pat Burnside, my friend.”

Although she had been addressing an illness for several months, Burnside had kept her condition private to most. She had over 25 years of experience as a Realtor in South Florida, and ran a Hollywood office, Pat Burnside Realty.

“Patricia always greeted people with a smile and seemed genuinely interested in others. Her compassion was boundless,” said ACE Executive Director, Angelina Spencer-Crisp. “I noticed on her Facebook page that she continued to serve and give to others right up until her death. Every so often we’d call one another to catch up. I will deeply miss her and our conversations.”

A statement from her family read, “Our beloved sister and aunt, Patricia Hickling Burnside, will be missed by her family and friends. Her loving spirit will be with us forever. Her memory will be a blessing.”
