Shy and Sexy Claire Fae!

I love the freedom that working in the industry has brought me — both financial and personal, as well as the ability to work as a full-time creative. Performing has opened up the ability to learn and utilize a number of skills that I likely wouldn’t have as much use for outside of the industry, such as fire eating and risqué costume design.

Questions for Miss ExoticDancer.com

ED: What does it mean to be named Miss ExoticDancer.com of the Month?
CLAIRE: It’s a huge honor to be named Miss ExoticDancer.com of the month, and it definitely reaffirms that I’m headed in the right direction. I’ve struggled a bit with impostor syndrome this past year as I’ve pursued the feature entertainer side of things; I’m never done learning but I’m very proud of the progress that I’ve made. I’m very grateful.

ED: How did you get in the industry?
CLAIRE: When I was 19, I began waitressing at an LGBT nightclub and fell in love with the flash and glamour of nightlife and watching the drag artists perform. After a few months, I applied to be a shot girl at what would become my home club, Omar’s Showbar in Lansing, MI. The managers pushed me to give dancing a shot and I was hooked, it wasn’t long before I quit my day job to pursue entertaining full time. I found a fantastic support system within the industry and I owe a lot of thanks to my work family.

ED: Your favorite thing about the industry?
CLAIRE: I love that I’ve had the opportunity to travel and make friends all across the country during my time in the industry. I’ve also come out of my shell in a major way since I began dancing — I was a very shy teenager and the difference in my confidence after six years is like night and day. Throwing myself headfirst into a sink-or-swim type of industry is the best thing I could’ve done for myself; very little scares me now.

ED: Favorite stripper movie? Favorite movie in general?
CLAIRE: “Showgirls” (1995) is my ultimate rainy day stripper movie. As soon as we get that first nasty Michigan fall day, I guarantee I’ve got “Showgirls” on and cookies in the oven. Another favorite of mine is a tie between “The Shining” and “Silence of the Lambs.” I’m a sucker for ’80s-’90s psychological thrillers.

ED: How would you compare your entertainer self to yourself off-stage?
CLAIRE: I would say I’m pretty similar on and off stage, honestly. My stage persona consists largely of my favorite things about myself, just dialed up a few notches and with more rhinestones.

ED: What is your favorite thing to do outside the club?
CLAIRE: Outside of the club, I’m very outdoorsy. I spend quite a bit of time hiking and kayaking; one of my most memorable trips was backpacking in Alaska for a month — I got to climb Mount Healy and caught a 60-pound halibut.

ED: Your favorite body part of yourself?
CLAIRE: Definitely my legs and butt, although I get a lot of compliments on my freckles as well.

ED: What gets your motor purring?
CLAIRE: I’m a sucker for a big personality with a dash of chaos. I adore people who are dominant and full of surprises.

ED: What is your favorite saying?
CLAIRE: “Let them.” I’m a firm believer the best reaction often times is no reaction at all, especially with workplace drama — most situations will sort themselves out long before I need to get involved. That’s their karma, not yours.

ED: Best and worst pick-up line?
CLAIRE: My personal favorite is “If you were a fruit, you’d be a fine apple.” No matter how many times I hear it, it always makes me laugh. As far as worst pickup lines, one time a guy that I had just met pulled out a ring and asked me to marry him while I was on stage at work. I’m rarely speechless, but that caught me way off guard.
