Everyone remembers their first reality TV experience of the early 2000s, whether it was an introduction to the Kardashians or a questionable competition show. Farrah Abraham certainly remembers hers — after all, her daughter’s birth was a televised event.

As one of the original teen moms from “16 and Pregnant,” Abraham made a name for herself as a sharp-tongued teenager with a tumultuous relationship with her mother. Over the years, she has unapologetically explored various industries, including singing, acting, adult entertainment and exotic dancing — with her most recent endeavor being stand-up comedy. Given her familiarity with the adult entertainment industry, it was no surprise when she chose Spearmint Rhino New York to debut her latest pursuit.

“I was compelled to have this contract, I love Spearmint Rhino!” Abraham says, recalling positive experiences with the club chain in her hometown of Iowa and later in Nevada. “For one of my big after-parties in Las Vegas, Spearmint Rhino took over the whole after-party for me.”

Abraham’s comedic journey began when she was invited to do a comedy special with Dave Patel for Comedy Central as a featured celebrity guest.

“When I got wrongfully fired from my reality TV show, ‘Teen Mom,’ I began getting royalty checks and became sad because I spent so little time in comedy,” she says, expressing dismay over not having explored a field she enjoyed.

Shortly afterward, Abraham began going to comedy clubs and researching the comedy world, stating that she most enjoys comedians like Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey.

“I know everyone says Jim Carrey, but there’s something about him — like “Dumb and Dumber,” really anything we were raised on. He keeps it fun.”

Even after studying and absorbing as much information as she could, Abraham says she didn’t feel quite ready for the big comedic spotlight until recently.

“This year, I am ready! I have done all the work,” she says, eager to celebrate healing and love through her comedy debut. “Gentlemen’s clubs are embracing and allowing this new level at their club — having some reserved spaces for comedians. I would love to perform at other Spearmint Rhino locations that have the space and the capacity for the comedy club aspect.”

While it’s uncommon for comedians to perform at strip clubs, it’s not unheard of and Abraham is certainly not the first — Kevin Hart is another comedian who had humble beginnings performing at a male strip club. [EDITOR’S NOTE: Dan Harris, owner of Archibald’s in DC, had a comedy club inside his venue during the early ’90s, hosting such well-known comedians as Dave Chappelle, Martin Lawerence, Jay Leno and Ellen Degeneres. Abraham says that if strip clubs like Spearmint Rhino were to create space for comedy, it would make for a more laid-back and enjoyable experience.

“I’m happy that Spearmint Rhino is spearheading this comedy act in adult entertainment because that’s what’s needed right now. We have porn stars doing comedy podcasts.”

The former teen mom reflected on her parenting journey, and while recalling the ups and downs, says her various endeavors have only made her stronger.

“I’ve done all these different things for my fans, but I haven’t gotten to do comedy, laugh and share stories. I think a lot of people have just been waiting for that.”

Abraham’s comedic material will delve into her past, present and future, with the goal of taking control of her narrative. The comedy event will be filmed from beginning to end — from her getting ready for opening night to the red carpet and all of the pre and after-parties — with the intent of creating a comedy docuseries. While she won’t be performing as a dancer during the stand-up show, she will be offering lap dances for $250 per person, limiting the songs to five minutes.

“I don’t want anyone to feel left out because someone is hogging all the time,” she laughs.

Abraham is in the process of securing an agent to support her success in her new comedy career. She is confident this endeavor will open more doors for comedy and adult entertainment to intersect.

“I hope other gentlemen’s club owners and business partners can see how good this is for all their locations — for where we are in 2025. We need to bring the comedy!”
